I made this

March 2014
I made this.
Meet  Billy the Goat of Many Colors
Me and Billy at the reception for the delegates of the Mohair Council of South Africa held March 2014 at "7 On Locust" in Mill Valley <<  https://www.facebook.com/7onLocust >>

Just want to share a little bit of the my process in making Billy.

the frame is chicken wire with PVC tubes for legs (thank you Kathy); then I covered the wire with Duct Tape and over that I stitched on a "skin of knitted cotton" that I made on my LK150 knitting machine.

this is a close up of the head wrapped in Duct Tape, covered in knitted skin; the horns have been fitted with an old pair of opera length Kid Leather opera gloves.

a view of his underbelly and not so private parts......
Of course his luxurious long and colorful coat is made of Be Sweet South African Mohair yarn BeSweetproducts.com , applied to the knitted skin a few strands at a time using a crochet hook  with the help of my studio mate and fellow crafter Heather heathergrefstudio.com

....here's another look

On a bootie binge

I've been busy knitting and crocheting  baby booties these past few weeks. I wanted to share them because they really are a lot fun to make. I think of all the babies in my life that are grown and growing. Let me give credit where credit is due:
the knitted booties are a variation on a pattern by MommaBearKnits, Magic Number Baby Booties and the crochet baby boot inspired by TwoGirlsPatterns

As requested....

I have been asked a few times late this Holiday shopping season "What creatures and things do you have left for sale?" So I thought it easier for all concerned if I put pictures of what and who is still looking for a place under a Christmas tree.  Please feel free to contact me by email at TishaHandmade@gmail.com with questions.

Red procrastination

I should be making hearts: felted, knitted, crochet, for the upcoming Marin Handmade show on Feb. 8 at Artworks on Fourth Street, San Rafael. But instead I am compelled to make this little jacket. Should fit a two year old. The seed stitch takes a bit longer, but it is so comfy! Want to finish it today.

later............

so cute, modeled by my friend Victoria
Now I need to post this to my etsy shop, that is a whole nother ball game.

Poland

Noticed in my page-views that there are 2 from POLAND and made my heart skip a beat. My maiden name is Bubka, a good Polish name. My grandfather come to the states from Poland in the 20s just after WWI.  Isn't the internet a wonderful place?
